In July 2001, on a brilliantly sunny day in Seattle, I left a high-tech healthcare consulting business to start my own benefits company. I set about launching Orca Bay Benefits because, for most of my career, I have been focused on employee benefits, and in particular that most expensive of benefits-healthcare insurance.

Employers are faced with significant challenges in their endeavor to offer employees affordable benefits. Throughout Washington, employers of all sizes are burdened with rising premiums, provider network changes, and insurance companies that come and go.

To make matters even more difficult, employers are often left in the dark and neglected by their brokers as time and money go wasted. Ask yourself, when was the last time your broker asked you about your employee benefit goals? To me, there is a critical need to truly listen to employers and work with them in partnership to find solutions that meet their employee benefit needs.
